Through PlantNet it is possible to identify plants by simply recording a photo, and the application also allows you to find other species. It is available for both Android and iPhone (IOS), the free platform is capable of recognizing the name of the plant with just a photo.
To acquire the answer, the service has a botanical database with thousands of records so that it can give a result with greater certainty. Additionally, users can help improve the tool by indicating whether the suggestion displayed matches the image that was submitted.
For a more effective experience, the app offers suggestions on how to take photos in a way that makes the system easier to read. This reduces the obstacles to identifying the plants.
Basic use of the platform does not require registration. The process below was carried out on a cell phone whose operating system is from Google, however, it is the same for Apple devices.
1- Step
Download PlantNet on your mobile device, then open the app, after opening the app you need to allow access to your location. Grant it or not, depending on what you want, since this will not prevent its use. Then click the camera icon to upload the photo;
2- Step
The platform will ask you for permission to access your gallery and your smartphone's camera. Click “Allow”, otherwise it will not be able to perform its main functionality. Later, a small step by step will be shown on the best way to record the photos of the plants, these should be as highlighted as possible, away from the others. Continue pressing “OK”;
3- Step
The user can take a photo at the moment or choose one from the cell phone storage. In this tutorial, we opt for the “Camera” to make a new registration. All you need to do is frame the plant and take the photo.

If the photo didn't turn out well, you can discard it and take a new one again. But if the first result is already what you need, click the check button to continue and use it. Then, characterize what the plant is like, whether it is a leaf, fruit, flower, stem, etc.

PlantNet will show the species most likely to be at the top, with other less likely options below. The app brings together several images per plant, so you can choose the photo from the collection closest to your plant.
6- Step
For those who have already registered in the system, you only have to enter the username and password and click “Connection”. Otherwise, create a user account, log in, enter your email, create a password and click “Create a user account”;
7– Passed
